OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees by exposing employees to heavy equipment struck-by and/or caught between hazards. Michels Powers, Inc., 665 Nutmeg Road N., South Windsor, CT yard: On or about October 9, 2025, employees were exposed to caught-between and/or struck by hazards while securing the grapple (S/N: BR6612) to the boom of an energized boom truck (Builtrite model 2280, S/N: BR6611). The boom lifted when the controls were unintentionally manipulated while an employee was handling the strap on the grapple, creating sudden tension on the strap, which resulted in an amputation.
