29 CFR 1910.23(c)(7)(i): The employer did not ensure that ladders placed in locations such as passageways, doorways, or driveways where they can be displaced by other activities or traffic are secured to prevent accidental displacement: (a) Back of House - On or about December 9, 2025, employees were using an unsecured 16' orange Werner extension ladder, placed in the egress pathway leading to the exit access door, to access the loft, where store merchandise was stored. Incase of an emergency panicked employees on the floor could knock the ladder over when attempting to evacuate the area, exposing the worker to a 16' fall hazard. In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(d), abatement certification is required for this violation (using the Certification of Corrective Action Worksheet), in addition, documentation demonstrating the abatement is complete must be included with your certification.
