(a) Convenient Store, 572 North Avenue, Fanwood, NJ 07023  On or about December 11, 2025, the employer did not provide the required personal protective equipment (PPE), such as chemical-resistant gloves and safety glasses, to employees. Employees who cleaned the Merrychef oven using Merrychef Oven Cleaner were not provided with chemical-resistant gloves and safety glasses; however, the safety data sheet for Merrychef Oven Cleaner and the company's hazard assessment for the task indicated that chemical-resistant gloves and eye protection were required.

29 CFR  1910.151(c): Where employees were exposed to injurious corrosive materials, suitable facilities for quick drenching or flushing of the eyes and body were not provided within the work area for immediate emergency use:  (a) Convenient Store, 572 North Avenue, Fanwood, NJ 07023  On or about December 11, 2025, suitable facilities for the immediate emergency flushing of both eyes were not provided within the work area for employees using chemical cleaners such as Merrychef Oven Cleaner, which the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) and container label indicate can cause serious eye damage upon contact. The first-aid kit onsite contained only 30 mL bottles of sterile solution for use as eyewash.  NOTE:  American National Standards Institute (ANSI) Standard Z358.1 criteria for emergency eyewash is one capable of delivering not less than 0.4 gallons (1.5L) of clean water per minute continuously for at least 15 minutes.
