OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1):The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: a) Benco Construction Services, LLC on or about November 24, 2025, at the address of 2550 Tracey Rd. Northwood, OH: An employee was exposed to struck-by and crushing hazards during and following the placement of 60 ft. common wooden trusses atop a post frame structure. Erected trusses were not secured against displacement with effective bracing. One feasible means of abatement to is to provide adequate temporary ground and truss bracing for the top chord, bottom chord, and web (including diagonal bracing) and shoring as designed by a registered professional engineer, and/or follow the guidelines in Building Component Safety Information (BCSI) 2018, Guide to Good Practices for Handling, Installing, Restraining & Bracing of Metal Plate Connected Wood Trusses Sections BSCI-B1 and BSCI-B2, which outline the necessary steps for required truss bracing and the requirement to ensure all load bearing supports (e.g., walls, columns, headers, beams, etc.) are plumb and properly braced.
