29 CFR 1926.1053(b)(1): Where portable ladders were used for access to an upper landing surface and the ladder's length allows, the ladder side rails did not extend at least 3 feet (.9 m) above the upper landing surface being accessed: (a) On or about January 15, 2026, on the 8/12 pitch roof; employee(s) utilized a portable aluminum extension ladder to access and egress the second level roof eave without the ladder side rails extending at least 3 feet past the landing while performing framing activities on a new single family residential home. In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(d), abatement certification is required for this violation (using the CERTIFICATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION WORKSHEET).
