Polishing employees were required to utilize a respirator such as a N95 filtering facepiece respirator while engaged in polishing/buffing activities on stainless-steel products such as pumps to mitigate inhalation of dust created from the process.

29 CFR 1910.1200(h)(1): Employees were not provided effective information and training on hazardous chemicals in their work area at the time of their initial assignment and whenever a new hazard that the employees had not been previously trained about was introduced into their work area: a) On or about and times prior to January 28, 2026, the employer failed to provide polishing room employees with a hazard communication training program prior to their initial assignment. Employees in the polishing room worked in tandem with Yumac Products, LLC employee where the presence of combustible aluminum dust was identified inside the dust collection barrels. Employees were not provided with an effective training program to recognize, mitigate, and avoid exposure to the physical hazards associated with aluminum combustible dust.
