29 CFR 1926.651(k)(1): Daily inspections of excavations, the adjacent areas, and protective systems were not made by a competent person for evidence of a situation that could have resulted in possible cave-ins, indications of failure of protective systems, hazardous atmospheres, or other hazardous conditions: On or about February 9, 2026, an employee was exposed to cave-in hazards while working in an excavation that was 6 feet - 3 inches to the bottom of the excavation and the employer did not have a competent person conduct daily inspections of the excavation's protective systems and adjacent areas for evidence of possible cave-ins or other safety hazards at a construction site in Canton, Illinois. WALTERS WATERWORKS LLC DBA MR.
