29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): Types of guarding. One or more methods of machine guarding shall be provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks. Examples of guarding methods are-barrier guards, two-hand tripping devices,electronic safety devices, etc. On or about April 24, 2026, the employer did not ensure adequate machine guarding for the HYUNDAI WIA KH 63G Horizontal Machining Center, exposing operators to serious hazards such as crush injuries and entanglement with moving parts, including the moving mechanical pallet platforms in the load zone. Specifically, the existing light curtains, designed to secure the loading zone, were inadequate and non-operational. This design flaw allowed operators to reach into the danger area while the machine was in operation, significantly increasing the risk of workplace injuries. TSW INDUSTRIES, INC. was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 1910.212(a)(1) which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1806818, citation number 01, item number 04 and was affirmed as a final order on 07/30/2025, with respect to a workplace located at 14960 FOLTZ PKWY, STRONGSVILLE, OH 44149.
