29 CFR  1926.501(b)(10): "Roofing work on Low-slope roofs." Except as otherwise provided in paragraph (b) of this section, each employee engaged in roofing activities on low-slope roofs, with unprotected sides and edges 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above lower levels shall be protected from falling by guardrail systems, safety net systems, personal fall arrest systems, or a combination of warning line system and guardrail system, warning line system and safety net system, or warning line system and personal fall arrest system, or warning line system and safety monitoring system. Or, on roofs 50-feet (15.25 m) or less in width (see Appendix A to subpart M of this part), the use of a safety monitoring system alone [i.e. without the warning line system] is permitted.   On or about May 28, 2026, at a work location located at 223 Highland RD, Macedonia, Ohio, 44027; the employer did not ensure employees engaged in roofing activities  over 6 feet were protected from falls. Employees were exposed to falls greater than 11.4 feet above the ground while painting roof vents and removal and install of roofing material on a commercial roof without utilizing any form of fall protection.  B. Buehl Industries Inc. DBA A & B Roofing and Construction was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 1926.501(b)(13) fall protection, which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1788494, citation number 1, item number 1a and was affirmed as a final order on 1/7/2025, with respect to a workplace located at 196 Butternut LN, Northfield Ohio 44067.
