Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: a) Body mechanical (musculoskeletal) injuries while engaged in handling or moving metal parts and/or material in the assembly, shipping, maintenance, press, shear, brake, and welding areas. A feasible and useful method to correct the hazard, among other methods, is the periodic comprehensive training and supervision of all exposed employees in body mechanics, manual lifing, and team lifting techniques and in the utilization of lifting and movement assistance devices.
