Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the interior door of the existing freight elevator was removed, exposing employees to a crushing hazard while elevator is in motion: a) Elevator F-20 - operating on all 8 floors of Building A. Observed 2/25/87. One feasible and acceptable abatement method among others, to correct this hazard is to reinstall the car door as per the requirements of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania elevator standards.
