Employee with COVID-19 infection dies
Investigation abstract
An employee was working as an automotive technician for a new car dealer. There during lunch and would be within 6 ft (1.8 meters) from one another due to the layout of the tables and chairs. The employee began feeling ill on August 4, 2021. He died a few days later at 4:00 p.m. on August 10, 2021. On August 10, 2021, the dealership's reconditioning manager informed the human resources manager that the employee had died at the hospital. The human resources manager notified OSHA on the following day, August 11, 2021, after she had gotten all the documents for the fatality prepared. She did not report the fatality within the required eight hours. The reconditioning manager had direct knowledge that employees were feeling sick at the dealership, because he had been sending them home. He had informed the employees infected with COVID-19 that they needed to was an outbreak of COVID-19 at the dealership. Employees working at the quarantine for ten days and submit medical evidence to prove that their status was negative for COVID-19. He was aware that employees had come to work and had subsequently been leaving work due to their feeling ill. A coworker technician stated to a CSHO during an interview that in the lunchroom, employees did not wear a mask, but they could not practice social distancing. The lunchroom had two tables and four chairs for each table. During the outbreak, several workers were infected, but the firm did not close. dealership were exposed to COVID-19 from coworkers who were infected. Employees in the mechanic shop worked in an open area without wearing masks. These infected employees would then walk to the parts department area, where another employee was infected with COVID-19. The employees stated they did not wear masks that while working at their bays. They only wore masks when another employee approached them at their workspace.
