Employee experiences rhabdomyolysis during physical ability

Investigation abstract

At 8:00 a.m. on July 7, 2021, an employee was participating in a 1.5-mile run as part of a new hire physical ability test. Within the last 50 meters of the run, the employee collapsed. The employee self-reported insufficient hydration and nutrition prior to the test. Emergency responders treated the employee with extensive fluid administration, and the employee was diagnosed with rhabdomyolysis. The employee was hospitalized for treatment.
