Event description

Employee?s thumb is crushed while rolling steel pipe on rack

Investigation abstract

At 2:30 p.m. on May 10, 2021, Employee #1 was rolling an 8-inch steel pipe to the end of a pipe rack. As the pipe was being rolled, his gloved left hand became caught between the pipe and the surface on which the pipe was rolling. His left thumb was crushed, resulting in a bedside amputation and grafting to close the wound. The employee was treated without hospitalization.
