Event description

Employee amputates finger when reaching into dust collector

Investigation abstract

At 10:30 a.m. on January 23, 2022, an employee was cleaning out a dust collector behind a saw when he noticed a clog in the collector. The employee reached behind the saw and removed the dust collector bag. The employee then reached into the collector while it was still running and his hand was caught by the rotating parts. The employee amputated his finger, requiring hospitalization.
