An employee was trying to release a work float that had become wedged under a waterside rescue ladder. The employee was standing on a walkway and used his left hand to try and release the work float. As the float released, the walkway came down and caught the employee's left hand between an angle and the walkway, which partially amputated the pinky finger. The employee was admitted to the hospital for surgery.
