Two employees were preparing for a lift on a crane. One of them was rolling a wide-body shackle (weighing about 190 pounds) into position when his right middle finger was pinched between the shackle and the primary cable of the crane. The fingertip was amputated at the base of the nail. He was hospitalized, requiring surgery.
