An employee was using a hand-held drill to ream a hole in a sheet metal bracket held in a vice. The injured employee was attempting to remove a wire loop from the hole being drilled when his glove was caught in the bit. The glove pulled the middle finger on his left hand into the bit, causing cartilage and tendon damage that resulted in a finger amputation.
