Caught in running equipment or machinery during regular operation · Amputations

An employee was working inside a robotic cell, handling parts coming out of an X-ray machine. While waiting for the next tray of parts to come out of the X-ray, he rested his hand on the side edge of the roller system. The chain/sprocket teeth then caught his right glove, pulling his fingers into the sprocket. He pulled his right hand out of the sprocket gear and injured the tip of his right middle finger, resulting in a fingertip amputation. The chain and sprocket were unguarded at the time of the incident.
