After removing the auger from the kelley of a drilling rig, an employee was setting the kelley onto the cleanout bucket. The employee was trying to insert the pin to attach the cleanout bucket to the kelley and cleaning the pin hole with his left index finger on his left hand. The kelley was lifted while his finger was still in the pin hole, causing the amputation of the finger at the first knuckle.
