An employee was using an overhead crane to move a coil from a staging area onto a coil stand. When the coil was placed on the stand, the chain came loose from the coil and began to swing. The employee stepped forward to stop the hook and chain before they made contact with the stand. The hook caught the stand. It shifted and the coil fell, crushing the employee's legs and causing multiple fractures to both.
