Final narrative
An employee was using a bore gauge suspended by a crane to measure the bore in the gear being worked on. The gauge became lodged and the employee tried to move it when it slipped and his right index finger was pinched between two metal parts of the gear he was working on. The employee suffered a fingertip amputation below the nail bed but above the first knuckle.
