On May 29, 2024, at 9:00 AM, an employee was in the wood yard replacing a stacker reclaim chain. To perform the work, he was on a scaffold approximately 7 feet off the ground. He was waiting for a section of chain to be lowered into position so he could pin the links together. As the chain was lowered into position, the end began to coil up. The employee grabbed the end so it would lay flat. The chain flattened quickly and a link pinched his right ring finger. The upper right corner of his fingertip was amputated.
