While preparing to set concrete deck panels, employees identified a jammed cable on a 75-ton crane. The injured employee went to free the cable manually. When the cable released, the crane block dropped and pinned the employee s left hand. The employee sustained an amputation to their little fingertip and crushing injuries to their index, middle, and ring fingers. The employee was hospitalized and required surgery.
