Hiking across [REDACTED]; leading study abroad activity.
What happened
The employee and other Faculty members were leading a hike for a exercise science and sports & recreation management course that included paddle boarding kayaking and hiking. While hiking across the [REDACTED] (pillbox) there were raised concrete bunkers 3-5 feet high that the participants had to navigate around throughout the trail. Employee climbed up onto this particular bunker in an attempt to get around it. As she went to exit off the 4-5 foot tall bunker instead of jumping down she attempted to cautiously step down and ease off onto another landing to shorten the distance. When doing so she slipped on the landing causing her feet to swing underneath her and to fall forward and land on her right side injuring dislocating her right thumb and bruised her knee from the fall.
