Performing a changeover on the Honda transfer machine instead of using the HMI to advance the conveyor the employee was manually pushing the nest with both hands down the conveyor to cycle the rear door (RD) extrusion parts for RD black cap extrusion.

While performing a changeover on the Honda transfer machine instead of using the HMI the employee was manually pushing the nest with both hands down the conveyor to cycle the rear door (RD) extrusion parts for RD black cap extrusion. As the nest moved forward the employee’s right hand positioned on top of the nest became caught between the plexiglass safety shield frame and the nest. Due to the hand powered force and motion the right hand sustained a laceration to the palm requiring five stitches and a bruise to the top of the right hand.
