Patient put finger in employee 's face

At approximately [REDACTED] the patient in question had been verbally aggressive toward multiple staff members throughout the shift exhibiting behaviors such as agitation and confrontational speech. The patient approached me in the nutrition room requesting coffee. I engaged him in conversation expressing concern about whether coffee was appropriate given his current state. (didn 't mention the fact that he has a history of throwing liquids at people and that there was an order for him not to have hot drinks). My intention was to set a boundary while ensuring the patient would have an opportunity to calm down to engage in a constructive conversation. When I informed the patient of my decision to delay coffee he became upset and demanded I serve him. Recognizing the escalation i attempted to remove myself from the interaction to create space for the situation to de-escalate.
