Before the incident

Employee was trying to get a ladder down from his work truck.

What happened

There were two ladders the bigger of the two ladders was on the bottom of the smaller ladder which is the one the employee was trying to get. He unstrapped both ladders each which had its own straps. There was another service crew member with him for this job. He began to speak to the injured employee which caused him to get distracted and forget that he had already unstrapped both ladders. At this point he went to the back of the truck to continue to dismount the bigger of the two ladders forgetting that there was a small ladder on top of the big ladder. When he began the bring the big ladder the small ladder slid off and hit the top of his right hand.
