What happened
I 'm really unsure how I injured my back as there was nothing specifically that I did where I immediately had pain. But towards the beginning of my shift on [REDACTED] I was helping a patient get ready for bed. This patient was a 1 assist with a gait belt and walker. We went into the bathroom so they could urinate and then we went back to the bed. The patient had difficulty getting their legs into bed on their own so I assisted them using proper body mechanics. This is something I have done many times thr oughout the course of my career. After getting the patient into bed I finished administrating their nighttime medications and then left the room. It was when I got outside of the room that I noticed a slight ache on the left side of my back. As the night progressed so did this ache. By the end of my shift I noticed I was having difficulty with turning to my left or right hinging at the waist and lifting pretty much anything.
