What happened
[REDACTED]: [REDACTED] my shift I was in charge of collecting blood samples from our BSL-2 mice per our protocol. We use this to test the blood for EPO concentration. During this procedure I inserted a 21 G needle inside the mouse 's saphenous vein a nd as I removed the needle to bring the vial over to collect the blood the needle penetrated my middle finger. I immediately took of my glove cleaned some blood that was being excreted from my finger and used alcohol to clean the area. After putting the mice away in the BSL-2 room I spoke with [REDACTED] and [REDACTED] to see what the Lentil Virus protocol was. Although the Lentil Virus was only used for transduction and was a third-generation mice I followed the protocol and have taken the medicati on prescribed by Mayo Clinic
