What happened

Employee was having an issue with the punch press they were operating and reported the equipment failure to the Lead nearby. After the conversation the operator turned around took a two steps and then the third step made contact with a cart parked at the workstation. The employee�s momentum caused him to fall forward over the cart and onto the ground on the other side of the cart. The incident was immediately reported to supervisor who provided first aid. Employee stated they had significant pain in the right hand. Once the glove was removed it was observed there was swelling in the upper part of their right hand. Ice was applied to the injured hand and the hand was kept elevated. The employee was then taken to the nurses station where they were kept under observation.
