What happened
employee reports - Was assisting in a cardiac arrest. After placing multiple PIVs and a central line the physician attempted to discontinue the IO needle however was unable to do so asked me to attempt. Placed gloved left hand on patient 's leg and was twisting and pulling needle to withdraw needle from the leg. When needle pulled out it poked index finger of gloved left hand and punctured through glove.
