This writing therapist was treating an inpatient working on self care skills assisted patient with transfer to bedside commode with patient assist and returned patient to sitting edge of bed post toileting. Patient instruction completed for technique for log rolling to return to supine in bed and she was working on this skill with needed assist to bring legs up into the bed. Therapist squatted to assist patient with legs into bed and with lifting legs felt a sharp pain in lower back. patient was safely repositioned in bed and was following therapist instruction for technique and safety.
