Replacing a leaking air diaphragm pump on alkaline cleaner tank M

Employee was training a new plating operator on CPA tasks. Employees were replacing a leaking air diaphragm on the alkaline cleaner tank that pumps dirty solution to a centrifuge. Upon completion of the pump replacement a hose clamp left loose on the flexible hose and sprayed the corrosive cleaner solution onto trainee who was gathering up his tools. The employee stated that the chemical solution hit him in the chest area and splashed up into his face and in both eyes. He immediately flushed out both eyes at the emergency eyewash station for 15 mins before heading to nurses office and hitting first aid button. First aid attendant and EHS supplied employee with saline eyewash solution and continued to wash out eyes until the burning sensation subsided. the first aid attendant had also removed a few eyelashes from the employees eye during the treatment which improved the employees irritated right eye.
