What happened
I was scrubbed in a spinal fusion and at the end of the case after we put the dressing on and were taking sterile drapes off the patient one of the SMS needles came with it as it was stuck on the underside of the drapes. I could not see it and I grabbed the drapes to throw them in the trash and got stuck with the SMS needle.
