Before the incident
He was tightening a steady rest on the small slotter.
What happened
He was tightening a steady rest on the small slotter when the wrench he was using slipped off the bolt. His momentum carried his arm into the machine bed that was not clean of chips causing a puncture the size of half a dime shape and multiple very fine metal debris to enter the puncture. After attempting to clean it a few times when looking with a magnify glass small metal shaving could be seen. So he had the small flap of skin removed to better help clean the wound to prevent infection.
Injury or illness
Small cut that little metal slivers shaving got inside.
