I was about to draw blood glucose labs from pt when pt began to get upset about using his IV. FOC asked if I could use his home lancet for a finger stick. I agreed to calm pt. After the finger stick I attempted to remove the lancet to dispose in the sharps container and accidentally stuck myself.
