Discarding a broken runner

The saw room supervisor noticed a scrap runner on the floor near the notcher machine so he grabbed the runner and took it to the dumpster to throw it in. He walked over a few feet from the dumpster and threw the piece of wood into the dumpster. When throwing the runner in the employee got a large splinter in the palm of his right hand. The employee had a thin pair of gloves on which did not stop the splinter. The supervisor tried to remove the splinter but was unable to and wanted to seek medical treatment
