Employee noticed a piece of mobile equipment (bobcat) that had been moved from previous location indicating to him that it was fixed and ready to use. The previous operator had attempted to operate the bobcat and left the bobcat in the reclamation area. The bucket was full of material(and material entered his boot) so he stepped through the material to enter the cab in the correct way and turned the vehicle on. When turned on he noticed something was still wrong with the vehicle and decided to exit.

When exiting he did not want to step back into the material in the bucket (the correct way to exit) so he attempted to exit to the left and when he stepped off cut his shin on the corner of the bucket requiring 10 sutures.

Laceration to Left Shin

Corner of Skidsteer bucket

Laceration to Left Shin - 10 sutures
