What happened
On [REDACTED] an incident occurred involving an operator working on an [REDACTED]. The operator was engaged in the process of opening a bore and was executing a cut of 100 microns. During this operation a long metal chip began to accumulate and wrap around the boring bar. After the program execution was complete and the machine was halted the operator attempted to remove the nest of metal chips that had formed. In the process a sharp edge of one of the metal strings cut through the operator 's cut level 1 glove resulting in a laceration to the tip of the right index finger. The operator promptly notified a fellow employee who escalated the situation to the supervisor. The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager was subsequently informed. The operator was taken to the emergency room and received six stitches from the injury.
