What happened
Employee was inspecting cabinet doors as they were coming down the conveyor line of #654 [REDACTED]. Cabinet doors go down the conveyor line and employees standing off to the sides have to inspect them for defects open joints rough spots ect. As the cabinet door was passing the employee she ran her hand along a rough spot on the door and received a large splinter in the middle finger of her right hand.
Injury or illness
Splinter foreign object in middle finger of the right hand.Employee went to the 1st aid room and removed the splinter. She thought that she had removed the splinter completely. A few days later the employee noticed that her finger was starting to hurt and looked swollen. She went to the local ER and had them look at it. They told her that there was nothing in the wound and discharged her. A few more days go by and the employees finger was getting worse. She went back to the local ER where they again told her there was no foreign object in her finger but they referred her to a hand specialist. The hand specialist determined that there was an approximately half inch piece of splinter still in her finger. The splinter had to be surgically removed due to it being in there for almost 2 weeks and the tendon growing around it. Due to the surgery the doctor kept the employee off of work for 2 weeks in order for the incision to heal properly and to avoid possible infection.
