Two team members were using a telescoping boom forklift to remove a cribbing box from a trailer deck There was a wooden box next to the cribbing box The cribbing box was set further back than the wooden box The spotter had his left hand on the wooden box and was using his right hand to signal the forklift operator The spotter was injured when he signaled the forklift operator to scope the boom out to get the forks under the cribbing box The spotter was focused on the forks going under the load and did not see that the cage at the back of the forks was getting closer to his hand The ring finger on his left hand was pinched against the wooden box causing the removal of the nail a broken finger bone and a laceration that required stitches to close
