Before the incident
I was working to loosen a bolt so that we could get a chain put back together. The bolt did not loosen easily and I kept applying more force to get it loose. Finally it broke loose and my hand kept moving and hit a sprocket or chain and got cut.
What happened
Employee was working to repair a broken chain on the Dorner equipment. He had a wrench on a bolt and was applying pressure to loosen the bolt. He continued to apply more pressure to the wrench pulling up and when the bolt finally broke loose his left hand continued to travel upward and came in contact with chain-sprockets that were directly above the area he was working in. When his left thumb hit the chain-sprocket and he suffered a laceration.

LEFT HAND - LACERATION-OPEN WOUND: EE was attempting to loosen a stuck bolt on Dorner chain mechanisms. Upon applying a significant amount of force the bolt loosened EEs hand continued upward striking the chain sprocket forcefully causing a laceration.
