Before the incident
IP attempted to unblock fluid passageways within equipment of solidified mud via a 1 inch hose using a pressure washer lance which was connected to drilling rig water supply.
What happened
The IP inserted the pressure washer nozzle into the 1 inch rubber hose using it as an inlet to the equipment 's internally blocked pipework. IP held the hose steady with the left hand and attempted to operate the pressure washer with the right hand. Upon actioning the trigger IP lost control - pressure washer kicked back water jet struck the injured hand (holding the rubber hose) between the thumb and inner forefinger lacerating the flesh through his impact glove.
