I was operating on a lateral malleolusankle of a 15yM I was using a sharp solid tool called a dental pick to help reduce the fracture when it slipped and slid across my glove This cut through both of my gloves and into the ulnar aspect of the distal part of my left thumb I immediately stepped away from the patient andset down the instrument away from the table thus the patient had no contact with my blood Gloves were removed appropriately and my <1cm in length and 2mm deep laceration was cleansed with betadine Dermabond was applied temporally and I had new gloves placed to finish the surgery RNs during the casestarted the needle stick protocol and drew the patients blood After the case I removed the dermabond and washed the laceration more thoroughly with betadine and bandaid was applied I then went to ED to have my blood drawn
