I was injecting a child with an IM dose of [REDACTED] After the injection I activated the safety of the needle against the side of the bed with one hand while I was holding the patient with my other hand I then applied a band aid to the child After the band aid I grabbed the needlesyringe to place in the sharps containerbut the safety was not all the way clicked into place and poked my left pinky finger as I picked it up I placed it the sharps container and then immediately washed my hands with soap and water Workers comp paperwork was submitted at time of visit with [REDACTED] on [REDACTED]
