Before the incident
The EE was trying to get a stuck bail of scrap to fall into the scrap hopper.
What happened
The EE used a large 6-foot pry bar to try to get it unstuck while bracing with his feet. While doing so his right leg bent in sideways and he felt a “pop” in his right knee. It wasn’t hurting too bad so he reported it but kept working for the rest of the day. Then going into the evening and when he woke up the next day it was a lot more painful. Then he thought that he should go to the doctor to get it checked out to make sure something wasn’t damaged in his knee. He came into work on [REDACTED] and said he wanted to go to the doctor.
Injury or illness
Right knee meniscus tear.
Object or substance involved
Landing awkwardly on concrete floor.
Summary line
[REDACTED] Right knee meniscus prying a scrap bail.
