What happened
While removing a railcar vibrator the employee placed a hammer on the ground directly in front of him. As he proceeded to set the vibrator down his right little finger became caught between the vibrator and the hammer. The combination of the vibrator 's weight and the downward motion created a crushing force on his fingertip. This resulted in a traumatic amputation of the right little fingertip at the first knuckle.
