Performing a timed race forcible entry drill

I was performing a timed race forcible entry drill at academy and was driving my partners halligan in with the back of a flat head axe. It was a very difficult door and as I was moving sideways to stay in line with the back of the halligan as the position changed as it went further into the door jam I lost my balance and stumbled sideways from a crouched position slightly. It was as I was drawing the axe back so the blade of the axe lightly hit me in the top lip from my lip to below my nose. I stopped the axe before it hit me very hard. I finished the day out as normal after stopping to examine the wound. It does not need a hospital trip and does not affect my ability to work.

Superficial laceration to the upper lip and above the lip going to just below the nose. Small abrasion on right upper lip.
