Before the incident
Scraping and digging trays
What happened
Employee was scraping trays using a handheld scraper on Line 7 while the line was in operation. The employee attempted to remove the buildup utilizing a metal scraper which became lodged between the vacuum head and the moving trays. When the employee attempted to remove the tools from the vacuum head their right pointer finger became caught between the moving trays and stationary vacuum head resulting in an immediate loss (amputation) of part of their right index finger down to the first knuckle. Employee was transported to the hospital in an ambulance.
